Keep an Eye on Your Mailbox

This fall, the City of Oshawa will mail all eligible municipal electors a Voter Information Letter (VIL).

Your VIL will include instructions on how to access a personalized code, enabling you to safely and securely cast your secret ballot from a computer, tablet, or smartphone on or before Election Day.

Voter Eligibility Requirements

If you do not receive a VIL, you may still be eligible to vote.

To cast a ballot, you must be:

  • A Canadian citizen
  • At least 18 years old on or before Election Day; and,
  • A resident of Oshawa, or an owner/tenant of property here (or the spouse of an owner/tenant)

Important Note: Permanent Residents and temporary visitors to Canada are not eligible to vote in Ontario municipal elections, even if they own or rent property in Oshawa.

Are You Registered?

If you haven't checked or updated your municipal voter registration, please do so today.

This step is incredibly important if you have recently moved to our city, relocated within Oshawa, or are a local student or renter.

Historically, thousands of eligible renters, students, and recent movers are unintentionally left off the Voters' List.

Take just one minute to ensure you are ready to vote by verifying or updating your information online at OshawaVotes.ca.

Note: Eligible voters who are missing from the Voters' List will still be able to register and vote in person at designated voting locations on Election Day.
