Your privacy matters to Roger's campaign.
The Roger Bouma Campaign (hereafter the "Campaign"), including persons or organizations acting on our behalf, as well as our volunteers or representatives (collectively, "we" or "us"), will respect your privacy by safeguarding any personal information that you choose to provide to us.
Roger's Campaign takes special care to keep all personal information in its possession confidential and secure.
This Privacy Policy applies to all personal information that is collected, used, or disclosed by the Campaign, whether it is collected electronically via our website or other digital platforms (each considered a "Site"), in person, or by telephone. This Policy applies to all Sites on which it is posted.
What "Personal Information" Do We Collect?
"Personal information" is information about an identifiable individual. This may include personal contact information that we collect, such as an individual's name, address, email address, and telephone number. We may also collect information regarding your residence, family members, language preference, political views, or any other details that you choose to share with us.
Collecting Personal Information
In addition to information you provide directly, we may collect personal information from publicly available data or sources and individuals who interact with the Campaign. For example, the City of Oshawa provides the Campaign with a list of all eligible voters residing in Ward 1.
We also collect personal information from residents when they correspond with us. You may choose to provide personal information on a voluntary basis, such as when submitting a form or survey, registering for an event, or signing up on any of our Sites.
If you submit your email address and/or phone number through one of our Sites, you consent to being added to our email and/or text messaging lists. You may unsubscribe from our communications at any time using the link provided in each message.
Usage and Disclosure of Personal Information
We believe it is important to communicate with eligible municipal voters on a regular basis. We will only use your personal information to communicate with you. The Campaign's lists are used for activities such as voter outreach or to customize the experience of visitors to our Site.
Additionally, non-personal information may be collected by the Campaign through the use of cookies, including third-party cookies. Cookies help us track how individuals use our Site and assist the Campaign in tailoring customized content to visitors and constituents. We may use this information to improve our Site or assist with digital advertising. Any visitor to the Campaign's Site may opt out of these advertising features by adjusting their browser's ad settings, or by using the free opt-out tool offered by the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada at youradchoices.ca/en/tools.
Protecting Your Personal Information
The Campaign maintains physical, organizational, and technological security systems to safeguard your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, misuse, loss, or unauthorized alteration. This includes encrypting electronic data, utilizing up-to-date digital protections and firewalls, and strictly limiting who within our organization has access to our data.
The Campaign's volunteers are trained in the appropriate handling of personal information. This training focuses on best practices for the secure collection, use, disclosure, safeguarding, retention, and destruction of personal data.
The Campaign will never sell any personal information that you have chosen to provide to us to any other individual or third party.
